When I saw DLSS 5 for the first time, I immediately had concerns so I didn't share your enthusiasm shared in your first reaction video. But at the end of the day, we can disagree and everyone is entitled to his opinion. That doesn't undermine your content for me and I'll keep enjoying DF. People get overly aggressive on this kind of topic and I don't support those who questioned your expertize simply because they did not agree with what was said.
Looking at the 4K comparisons more closely, there's also a peculiar way it does eyes, noses and mouths that tend to homogenize characters' renderings and I think people will get fed up with it at some point the same way they're fed up with UE5 idiosyncrasies.
I do see how, as a first iteration, there's a way for DLSS 5 to improve lighting (although I'm not 100% convinced by TES IV, it seems overly bright and with not enough contrast). But, at the end of the day, DF needs to point out the flaws more and for now it doesn't look like this technology is ready to do faces (one of the most complex task in rendering!). Some faces are OK, especially ones that were lacking details in their original version. But the first shot of Grace clearly shows there is a problem. And it will be amplified by the fact that every scene you play, you could have a different looking Grace. You won't even be able to identify her correctly as a character in your mind, it'll be a blur.
What did they do to hot unc' Leon? I can see some aspects of the image being better but it kills artistic intent and it does constantly remind you that you are looking at generative AI which is an uncomfortable feeling and really weird. Like the dlss off is a grounded image and dlss on you're hallucinating on drugs.
The discourse about 'AI slop' is designed to rub certain ppl the right way but that ship has sailed. They'll still push for AI ofc but in a sneakier manner, trying to aim for 'just palatable'. Unfortunately for them, that technology is brain dead, everything it touches that requires higher order thinking is dead. On the hardware front, I really don't see them pulling a 180.

"It sounds like a match made in heaven but, if a studio of Bluepoint’s calibre were involved, Sony’s marketing would likely have leveraged its name."
Well, that aged well...
