@MrJhan That it is changing games art styles and why is this a thing? I want my game to look like a game not an AI porn ad. They had like a singular line, sure but impressions are what matter and they are falsely praising this. It doesn't look good.
From a tech standpoint I agree, I genuinely think feats like this are cool. However, its execution is insanely poor and its kind of a step of "who even wanted this in the first place?" It's purely artificial and varies from user to user. Its currently processing DLSS 5 on a 5090 and a separate 5090 for the game processing. I don't really know how they'll scale this down in time.
@StooMonster It almost doesn't matter what the developers want. Its the higher ups making these business decisions on what to promote. Its really just a ultra realistic AI deepfake of a game, how does it not ruin how the game was originally intended as? Its also a user-side setting that won't be the same in how it outputs.
To your next point, if developers really build their game with this in mind, I do not care for it as it looks sloppy. Its not appealing. Most gamers won't even be able to use this feature too so I doubt at least for a long time, games wont be built for this in mind.
@MrJhan Bro, they just do not mention intrinsic issues of what this could bring. This isn't just upscaling or generating new frames. this is completely ruining intent. It's basically a deepfake and this article is written like a nvidia blogpost.
Made an account just to comment here. This is really shameful coverage of DLSS 5. The video and this article fail to mention the many many many implications of this technology being used. You say "oh it only changes the lighting" It really doesn't. Its inherently changing the artistic and creative integrity of games seemingly just as a business decision. It's an AI slop filter and that's all it is. This video is also just a blatant ad too.
