Looking forward to upgrading my i5 12600k. It paired nicely with my 3060 ti in 2022 but I've since upgraded to a 5070 ti and I now usually get CPU limited especially with RT on.
If only I could go back in time to 2022 and tell myself to use DDR5 instead of DDR4 but alas, I will be at the mercy of whatever ridiculous price DDR5 will be when I decide to pull the trigger to upgrade next year.
@AlessioCoco I actually do have the Legacy game compatibility mode option called exactly the same even though my board is a gigabyte one. I had it on since I built my pc in 2022 but always felt it didn't work right. I should probably test it more thoroughly next time I use my pc.
As for the panel stuff, thanks for sharing your experience. It helps having someone else's opinion as these monitors can be quite pricey. I was reading reviews on QD OLEDs and I was put off by the fact that blacks can appear purple under ambient light. How's the LG working out though, software wise? Recently read a few articles about LG monitors pushing Mcafee adds by installing their software through windows update.
@AlessioCoco 12600k owner here too and I usually have the e-cores disabled in the BIOS as well since, just like you, some older games tend to stutter when e-cores are active (Just Cause 4 for me).
I did participate in the survey but since my e-cores are disabled, I contributed to the 6-core CPUs figure, lol.
And funnily enough, I also intend on getting a 4k monitor. I'm eyeing the ASUS XG32UCWMG (what a name) which I intend to buy in the next few weeks.
It would have been nice if that disc to digital feature worked with 360 discs as most of my discs are 360 games. That said, I look forward to not having to insert my Forza Horizon 2 disc to play that game anymore.
@Darren1967 Buying now is probably the best thing to do in the current market. I also want to upgrade my i5 12600k to a newer CPU that will be able to feed my 5070 ti without issue. I am taking big risks though by waiting for next gen CPUs Just like you said, who knows how much pc parts will cost then? It's nuts!
I love GOG galaxy. Having a single launcher from which I can launch games from other storefronts like steam and xbox is really great.
One niche feature I really like using is the ability to set a different executable for launching a game . For a lot of older games (say Quake II) where you'll rather use a source port than the original exe, you can set the launcher to launch from source port directly (e.g. Yamagi Quake 2).
Really recommend people give this launcher a try if you buy games from other storefronts too other than steam.
@themightyant Many older games might run fine with just 4GB but really for $100 to $200, can't you just get a better deal by buying a used GPU at that point?
Another issue with those cards is that they need over 75W which means having the need for a PSU with an 8 pin connector which rules out these cards for use in cheap office PCs (dell optiplexes).
This is great news. Along with Forza and PGR, I really will love to see Team Ninja's games on PC like dead or alive and most importantly, the proper and best version of Ninja Gaiden aka Ninja Gaiden Black.
