Re: Review: Switch 2 Elden Ring: PS4 Visuals, Improved Frame-Rate and Faster Loading Times

Thanks for the write-up. I’ve got it on order and looking forward to its arrival. It’s good to hear ER runs well (enough) on Switch 2, and the inclusion of the expansion helps take the sting out of the double-dip purchase or, in my case, triple-dip given that I also own it on PC and played through it on Xbox before selling both of my Series consoles. Having never played ER on the previous gen consoles, I have no idea what to expect, but this review sounds promising. It’s a real strange move that they didn’t bother with DLSS, but as the article says, this would be expecting too much from FromSoftware and, apparently, the porting devs.

As @granadico says, it’s a bit of a shame it’s on a Game Key Card given that the install size is only 40GB. The fact that Bethesda bothered to release Oblivion and Indy on cartridges is even more impressive given the general move toward Game Key Cards and, shudders, codes-in-a-box. Mind you, they also released Skyrim and Fallout 4 for Switch 2 as codes-in-a-box, so praise must be qualified. A final little nugget is that the Elden Ring GKC is cheaper at retail than buying the game digitally from the Nintendo Online store, which continues to boggle the mind. For info, Amazon UK has long delays, but Smyth’s Toys has it in stock last I checked.
