Probably alone in my concern/desire to see and hear more about the most recent video of Kingdom Hearts IV gameplay shown off at D23. I know it's not necessarily the most discussed franchise on here, but I have been starved (dramatic I know) of much tangible information regarding the upcoming series. I had really hoped that the better gameplay footage would grab some attention but I'll do my best to be patient and wait to see if it gets mentioned any time soon. But if anybody else was feeling the same feel free to chime in.
NomurasPunchingBag, I too felt the same and yearn for the KH faithful to join our discussion.
I personally am a bit dismayed at the thought of really only having one or two options that are viable for me purchasing. I would love to get it for PlayStation, but I’m refusing to give Sony any more of my money with their intent to shut down disc production. And I also am refusing to purchase game key cards. That leaves me with Xbox (assuming they would put it completely on disc) and PC. I think I may just go the PC route unless Xbox is truly making the purchases cross buys between both PC and console (supposedly a thing with Helix).
Aside from that dilemma - the lore and gameplay are both extremely exciting to me. Independently playable Mickey, Donald, and Goofy! Sora traveling between Quadtratum and fictional worlds! Young Xehanort, MoM, and the other foretellers and union X characters alongside him! I am really curious to see where they take it. I am hopeful for rock solid performance on PC.
I love KH1, I thought KH2 was fun, but between 2 and 3, all the spin off games, the plot turned into a total mess and 3 did nothing to tidy that up. Also the gaps between main games, 2002 and 2005 for the first two, then a 15 year wait followed by an 8 year wait, it lost momentum. I remember picking up 3 and giving it a go and realising that they had dumped so much plot and lore into the spin off games and that it was now so convoluted I just gave up. The first two are still brilliant games but I feel the franchise has been mismanaged to the point it largely lost relevance.

Broadly agreeing here! I have fond memories of the first two games but I never picked up any of the others before 3 eventually turned up so I didn't understand what was going on (though you could say the same about 2 to a lesser extent!).
@bub_mario It's up to the publisher. Sadly all Square Enix games have been on key card on Switch 2. It's most likely the PS5 version will be fully on disc, as all Square Enix games have been. Though not sure now that Sony & Square Enix broke their exclusive agreement. Square Enix has not released any games physically on Xbox. FF7 Revelation maybe the first, it will be an indicator of how Square Enix approaches each console from now on

I'm well aware this is a publisher issue. That doesn't change anything about my purchasing decision. It's simple. I'm not supporting PlayStation anymore given their current trajectory and I want it on a complete physical release. If I can't get a complete physical version that is not a PS5 disc, I'll just stick to PC.
