The Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20 caused a bit of a stir when it was announced back in June, as it crammed a larger 7.4-inch OLED screen into the Xbox Ally X, solving that handheld's only real weakness. It added some nice-to-haves too, including trendy TMR thumbsticks, MicroSD Express support and an exquisite semi-transparent chassis with golden details. The only issue is that it was intended to be a special Asus 20th anniversary limited edition bundled with expensive XR glasses - something that Asus is now revisiting.
In short, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 will be available as a proper standalone product, with an asking price of $1300. That's $300 more than the original Xbox Ally X handheld, but $700 cheaper than the similarly-OLED-equipped Lenovo Legion Go 2.
The UK pricing for the X20 is less favourable by comparison, with a £1300 price tag that means it comes at a steep £450 premium versus the original Xbox Ally X at £850.
You can also still pick up the X20 with ROG Xreal R1 Edition 20 XR glasses as intended, for a princely sum of $2500 or £2300. That bundle now comes with a dBrand Killswitch case to protect the handheld and a custom pelican case for the whole lot.
The standalone and bundle versions ship on October 15th, with pre-orders open now at the Asus US store and Best Buy. We'll update this article once the UK pre-orders are live.
