@JayPsi At 4k 16:9 the site takes up about 75% of my my screen and it's centered. I think this is perfectly fine and pretty normal. This site is slightly wider than Twitter/bluesky. Any site that uses the left and right space has enough social features to do so. Reddit uses it for your feeds and communities.

That's definitely not what I'm seeing (also 16:9 4K) - It's more like 55-60% on my screen. There's at least 1,500 pixels combined that are blank and wasted space. Social media isn't a useful comparison as their sites are optimised for phones; it's reasonable to assume a significant proportion of DF users are accessing the forum on PC.
If you're familiar with websites like TVTrops or Wikipedia, they have toggles to extend the screen space to whatever width your screen is. It'd be a good option to implement if it is possible.
