I spend hours on Neo Gaf, For real I don't understand why people don't use forums, the internet is a dark place, we should go back to the roots, forums are really good, like old SMS based messaging, you are only meant to do it once. I want to understand why people are not using forums but use reddit which is a big forum

I think this is definitely something you could do now with enough impetus, but atm it really is fighting the system; without an enforced linking you can have 2 sets of users having the same convos that don't neccessarily overlap or even be aware of each other.

News article commenters might not venture on the forums and vice versa... I'm not saying that everything has to be a megathread, but it is just another friction that means conversations peter out easily opposed to the the big tent of a single thread
