Topic: Does the PS5 intro video stutter for you?

I was able to buy a PS5 within a year from launch and this peculiar — on its own trivial — issue has persisted since. I'm referring to the short console boot animation (which you may rarely see if your TV is set to turn on with the console), the one with sparks flying. Audio playback is equally affected, unclear (but most of the times my speakers are still powering on).

The PS5 is connected to an LG C1 (with the included HDMI cable). I have no experience with the PS5 Pro. I've of course rebooted the console.

NOTE: The PS5's "start-up bleep" (emitted by the console) can be disabled in the settings, but not this boot video to my knowledge.

I'll factory reset the console if I can confirm that the problem isn't universal — it's unthinkable that Sony would allow the interface to drop tons of frames at trade shows and their live events. I assume there's some conflict with my hardware configuration.

There's brief slowdown as my Pro transitions from the intro to the dash - I assume due to the loading in of my relevant on and offline data.

Thanks for the replies, albeit a commenter apparently deleted their reply.

To clarify, this doesn't occur every single time, but is frequent. The distorted audio sounds horrid especially at higher volumes.

I'll eventually get the PS5 Pro — it'll be a (forced) clean slate then at the latest.

Can't say I've ever noticed it stuttering on startup. I probably don't pay much attention though, I usually turn it on while faffing with the telly or headphones.

It does have an annoying coil whine though, and certain discs are louder than others when they're spinning...

It does happen on mine, yeah.

Yes happens on my PS5...I even think the PlayStation ident at the start of first party games has a little stutter too.

Attention to detail is mostly in the toilet these days. Ken Kutaragi would have got out a katana if an engineer left this in the PS1 / 2 boot sequence (I never owned a 3 so couldn't tell you if it was smooth).

I don't notice these things anymore but since you noticed it's probably there. Perhaps after an update they altered the boot process adding extra HDMI "negotiation" to identify resolutions, supported featured etc for specific monitors/TV's.

They probably don't care about any boot stutter since the console is in its later stage of life, that first boot impression is not relevant anymore. Console software tends to get "heavier" throughout the multitude of updates and added features.
