The channel PSVR Without Parole posted this video recently:
Basically, a "call to arms" to all who would be interested in seeing Capcom continue to bring their latest RE titles to PSVR2.
Technically, I would assume VR support to be perfectly feasible considering the game's also coming to Switch 2 (so there's already some lower fidelity RT support that could be leveraged for PSVR2), and with PSSR coming this year to more PSVR2 titles (currently only supported on No Man's Sky, where it looks amazing), Capcom shouldn't have many technical hurdles in producing a VR adaptation (although it may be more of a challenge to do so for the PS5 Amateur, as it lacks enhanced RT hardware and PSSR).
To anyone interested in voicing their interest for this, here's some links to Capcom's socials:
I would hope they see people interested in this (and willing to pay for it, like how IOI did with Hitman) maybe seriously consider putting out a VR DLC down the line, perhaps for both PSVR2 and PCVR as well, so hopefully people on this forum would be willing to engage with their socials and also demonstrate a "frothing demand" for more RE VR.
Still kind of hoping they'll announce this eventually. Clearly there are people at Capcom who love VR given how great the Village and RE4 VR versions were. In fact Village on PSVR2 is a strong contender for best VR game ever made.
I'm hoping too, and I would hope they can see this as a value add for their game rather than only doing it if publisher money is on the table. If I recall correctly, the last two conversions were done in the span of a few months with a small team, so if they could launch it as paid DLC for PSVR2 and PCVR, it could be a profitable endeavor.
You've reminded me I need to get back to the Village on PSVR2 and complete it.
Such a great game.
I do hope they continue supporting PSVR2 and VR in general. Capcom have been great supporting VR with some incredible well made games. I think if people weren't so (justifiably) scared of playing them in VR, they'd sell a lot more and have much higher recognition within the VR world.
@Stan546 Village is seriously a great experience, superior even to RE4 due to having the option of seeing most cutscenes play out in full 360ยบ view. I also prefer how Village lets you use the flashlight at any time, which is not only something that enhances immersion but also helps with exploration. Also, for some strange reason the scoped rifles are way more stable to use in Village rather than RE4. Just wish Capcom would commit to bringing Requiem and RE7 to PSVR2 as well, I think lots of users would be willing to pay for such VR support.
I would imagine that the VR editions of other recent RE games were financed by Sony as a way to shift PSVR2 hardware. Those ports never made their way to Steam, implying either Sony still owns them, or that Capcom has decided that the VR market is so small it isn't worth the hassle of moving them over.
For Requiem the lack of a VR version on any platform I think shows that Sony have abandoned VR, and that PC VR isn't big enough to make it worth the dev expense. Of course Steam Frame is due soon, which may move the needle a little. The Steam Deck was a big hit and the Steam Machine looks to be pretty anticipated, so who knows, maybe Steam Frame will give PC VR a boost and convince Capcom to do something. But I doubt it. Not even Half Life Alyx, still the best VR game ever made shifted that many VR headsets.
@ramu-chan yeah, those are all likely signs of a market that may not be viable for such big releases, but I guess that's why part of the community is willing to raise their voices and at the very least try to get Capcom to consider launching such VR support as paid DLC. It would honestly be pretty cool if they could do so and maybe release a VR update on PC as well for the previous titles and for Requiem.
It already has first person options for both characters, is built on the same engine that's had multiple VR releases now, and is a relatively short game - so it'd be a bit of a tragedy if it didn't get a VR port at some point.
@DaJaCo I know! Heck, I've been playing RE4's VR mode to get my RE itch during these trying times, but I have seen Requiem's gameplay and I fully believe any adaptation it may require for VR has a solution they already developed with RE4's VR mode. Also, the game already has baked lighting for lower powered consoles, so if RT is too much for VR on PS5, even that solution is ready to go. Anyway, I'm hoping VR will be announced in the future, maybe with a complete edition or DLC announcement as Capcom is keen to do with RE games.
