If this thing is meant to compete for people's money with you or i building a gaming pc then surely to remain competitive with new PC CPU & GPUs over a traditional console life cycle of 6yrs+ then there has to be the option available to upgrade it.
Will Microsoft need to release a new, more powerful version of the Magnus APU mid life cycle that the user can buy and slot into the motherboard, giving you an instant CPU & GPU upgrade that is competitive with the latest and greatest available to the self build PC gamer in 2030 who might be about to build their own PC?
I mean, what's a powerful Console/PC hybrid in 2027 will be quite slow by 2030 and positively potato level by 2033.
I doubt it will be upgradeable, but I imagine MS will release updated models as time goes by. In the same vein as phones or PC handhelds.
..but if this thing is just as much a Pc as a console then i doubt many of its users are not going to want to go through the trouble of starting over on a new device, losing all their data and installed programmes on the current one, assuming Microsoft would even allow drive cloning to make it as painless as possible.

You migrate from the one device to the other, as you can with most devices sharing the same eco-system?
I think it's a good question, but I'm with KenMasters on this one. Many people (myself included) upgrade their phones and GPUs every 2-3 years and think nothing of it. Maybe this is what will separate the Xbox from the wider PC market? Tradiational PC's for the enthusiasts who prefer to have upgradability across the board, Xbox PCs for those who just want the latest & greatest without the faff?
