alan wake 2

A new update for Alan Wake 2 has added support for AMD's latest graphics technologies, including FSR 4.1 and FSR Frame Generation. Patch 1.2.10, released on 18th August, also includes fixes for "audio synchronisation issues" during cinematics, a new game plus progression issue and a quick slots crash.

As a reminder, FSR 4.1 is compatible with Radeon 9000 (RDNA 4) and Radeon 7000 (RDNA 3) graphics cards at present, though an implementation has been promised for Radeon 6000 (RDNA 2) models next year. The patch notes say that the new version is "automatically enabled" when FSR Super Resolution is enabled in the settings.

The game previously added support for DLSS 4 in a January 2025 update, including transformer model upscaling and ray reconstruction, multi frame generation and RTX mega geometry. XeSS is suppported, but XeSS 2 features like frame generation are missing and require the use of third-party tools like Optiscaler.

Have you pre-ordered Control: Resonant?

The patch notes also mention an updated implementation of opacity micromaps and shader execution reordering, which now uses the Microsoft Agility SDK for "support across multiple GPU vendors."

The next Remedy project, Control Resonant, will be released in about five weeks' time, on September 26th. Interestingly, the digital version of the game will be available on the previously announced date, but the disc version will be delayed until October 15th - another nail in the coffin of physical media?
