I'm still waiting for Nintendo to give me a good enough reason to buy it. Unfortunately I can't justify spending 500 just to replay BoTW and ToTK with slightly better performance (as much as I desperately want to). So I'll sit tight waiting for the hook right now.

No, it hasn't. I was expecting it to at least be a solid uplift over my Steam Deck, maybe choosing 3rd party games on Switch 2 that I would not normally play on the Deck. But it's just not panning out that way so far. Funny enough, my PlayStation Portal is getting more love at the moment than both of those handhelds, so there's that.

Its what I expected. Its no more a port system for last gens Nintendo games its now a port system for last gens 3rd party games.

My favorite games to play on the Switch 2 are still Switch 1 games. Also for the comming half year or so. Like Rythem Heaven Groove.

But the games will come and hey why not buy now? The Switch 2 might be a lot kore expensive in a year from now….

One thing I should say is that I am happy with the ammount of Switch 2 demos I'm seeing in the store. Unfortunately some of them don't appear in the actual demo section/search. One of the best demos is the Adevntures of Elliot by square enix and it does not appear in that section.

I'm a simple man. I want something for a reason - and get it. I wanted something that allowed for gaming during travel and wouldn't require being online. Add to this some significant upgrades to existing games I skipped until now due to not wanting to bear with bad performance and/or visuals, I am really happy with my Switch 2 right now. My backlog feels big, I currently really enjoy the Musou Zelda game (封印戦記, dunno the English Titel) and do look forward to what the future brings. With PS5 being my second platform (started on PC but went console for the simplicity of it all almost a lifetime ago), there just isn't any shortage of games. Quite the opposite, what a year for me personally!

So yeah, here is someone who is not really a Nintendo fan (I freakin love Zenoblade though!), that still is incredible happy with what the Switch 2 brought already. Despite daily having the comparison to what a PS5 Pro can output visually or this year's No1 game being Ghost of Yotei for me, I can't help but enjoy the Switch 2 for what it has become. A console that kinda competes with my PS5 on a daily level, it wins on some days, it looses on others. But when I travel, there is only one option and I just don't want to ever miss this again. Gaming on the go never was better for me.

I'm really happy with the hardware, I think it's a capable device for the price.

However I've barely played Switch 2 software - MK World didn't hit the same as MK8, and DK Banaza was good, but a little repetitive and easy.

I've mainly used it to replay BoTW, the remake of Metroid Prime, and now the Mario Galaxy games. Combined with the GC emu, and it almost is being used as a retro machine. Also played Zelda Echoes on it, which is brilliant.

I hope Nintendo has some good stuff in the oven cause I haven't really had a wow moment since TotK.

The Zelda upgrades are transformative though. Almost makes we wish I held off playing Tears of the Kingdom and waited for the Switch 2!

No. Bought it on launch, didn't like Mario Kart World (no surprise, as I've never like a Mario Kart) and didn't like Donkey Kong Bananza. The best thing for me is the better experience with some Switch 1 games, like Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Tried to get into Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but got bored after an hour or so with the crafting mechanics (the new Zelda games are overrated anyway). Mostly I've played some Mega Drive games on it, which you don't need Switch 2 for.

The screen is a huge disappointment but it doesn't really matter for me as I play 99% docked anyway. At least the new Pro controller is great!

I'm not sad I bought it, mainly did so at launch because I wrote a review and needed a unit for it, but it's a bit disappointing. Stopped collecting physical Switch 2 games because they run worse than digital and the Game Key Card thing is just stupid in my opinion.

I did exactly this. Bought TotK at launch, didn't even open it because I saw it ran so badly. Started on S2 but it turns out the game is quite boring and I don't like the crafting mechanic at all. I hope they move away from the BotW/TotK world and game system in the future, but it's not a big deal, as I'm not a huge Zelda fan anyway (the best Zelda is Link's Awakening on Game Boy).

tbh nintendo's lack of commitment with the hardware for early adopters is getting harder by the day, I can't really understand how they do not live up to the hype of the system selling so good right now. It is like they are not even trying to impress. My oh my, and don't get me started on that upgrade that Mario party had a worse for wear uneven upgrade to sell the webcam feature.

I haven't bought it yet. Holding up for an oled variant. I feel the current game line up does not justify its purchase ( having a switch one oled at home)

A more powerful switch is all I wanted tbh, so I feel like I got exactly what I paid for. Have also enjoyed playing switch 1 games with perfomance issues at stable frame rates. I would like to see more free resolution boost patches though, especially for the xenoblade games and metroid personally.

the switch 2’s first 3 months have been better than the wii u and 3ds for me, but worse than every other nintendo console. It’s mostly how bad those two launched.

I’m not a big donkey kong fan and the new game didn’t change that, and mario kart world’s a solid 5th place or so for mario karts for me. I really don’t have as much time for video games with a toddler though, so i might be unfair since i don’t have the time or money to get much for it.

donkey kong was a little bit garish, I liked it but it wasn't a happy game like Mario odyssey it was a fun game at points. I get they were trying something new but you know they should have gone with a heavy hitter single player game that is bigger than Metroid for non Pokemon fans. I don't care about the launch of 3ds or Wii U, it was a different time, people did not use social media nearly as much, people were not so anxious there was no instagram as a mainstream, twitter was still in its infancy and TikTok was a pipe dream at best. So I wouldn't compare them.
I think that the minimum effort games like dragxdrive. I know that you could say that the ps5 launch was a mess but having spider-man Morales as much crossgen sort of dlc or shorter game was a big win for Sony. The only credit I will give jimbo live service Ryan. Doug bowser is not involved with nintendo epd, but nintendo is still rolling with the switch 1 thing and it is annoying, I know people because of the ripple effect, are welcoming for cross gen and prices are high furthermore some people may just get switch now, non gamers, outsiders, but the market is shrinking and it is a bit of a weird bet on the long run. At some point they have to get their act together. No amount of nostalgia or game cube emulation is gonna replace actual games that are fun to experience. At least most first party stuff other than donkey kong aim 1440p60 with the not so great but serviceable for nintendo low detail characters.

yes I said it fsr 1 for nintendo games is not that bad. I just hope they embrace diss for the next wave because it is not gonna cut it otherwise any longer with more detailed characters

Maybe I am deluded but I expected there to be more first-party games even in the first few months of the Switch 2's life.

I bought mine only to play the first-party games on so only own 4 Switch 2 games (physical carts) along with Cyberpunk 2077 which I bought to support the developers decision to release their game on a cart. Mario Kart World was okay but nothing special, Donkley Kong Bananza was fantastic, easily the Switch 2's best game to date, but I found Pokemon Legends ZA and Kirby Air Riders disappointing.

Pokemon Legends ZA is my first Pokemon game but, honestly, I think the game looks horrible visually and is nothing special in terms of gameplay either. Kirby Air Riders looked like it might be fun - I enjoyed the Kirby platform games - but it just feels simplistic and slight despite the amount of stuff you unlock as you play. The game almost plays itself as there is no need to even accelerate.

I was kind of hoping for more backward compatible patches like the superb ones we got for Super Mario Odyssey which now looks wonderful on my 55" OLED TV and Splatoon 3. This is Nintendo though so I really shouldn't have expected much but enhanced versions of the Xenoblade Chronicles games would have been nice, as would a 4K patch for Metriod Prime Remastered ahead of Metroid Prime 4's release next month.

Seems to me that Nintendo are absolutely terrified of leaving the original Switch behind so are pushing for multi-platform releases over exclusive ones. Might be wrong though but that is how it looks to me. I kind of get it when you have a user base of over 100 million on Switch but you need the exclusives and enhanced Switch 2 games in order to sell the new system.

As it is the Switch 2 often feels more like a Switch Pro in all honesty than a brand new next-gen system but, hey, at least the games now look good on a 4K TV which wasn't true of most Switch games. Good job they do too as I keep my Switch 2 permanently docked as the LCD screen is a massive downgrade from the Switch OLED's screen.

I agree switch 2 feels like a switch pro despite having way better specs. It does not deliver the 4k like future that we thought nintendo would give. And also so few games.

I've had it since launch and it's collected dust more than anything else. I played Donkey Kong and that's pretty much it. But that's what I expected... well, I expected Metroid Prime 4 to be sooner but that was dumb of me.
