I would like to draw attention to the following situation.
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, news began circulating that PS5 users were reporting unreleased erotic games appearing in their lists of recently played titles.
I had been playing on my PS5 that evening (Tuesday, June 16) and checked my profile beforehand; fortunately, I didn't find any erotic games—everything looked normal.
However, when I stopped playing around 10:30 PM and checked my profile again, it was completely empty; not a single game remained.
At first, I didn't think much of it, other than "there's something to that news story" and "Sony must have disabled the game list as a security measure."
Two days later, on Thursday, June 18, the game lists on profiles were visible again, but I immediately noticed that countless games were missing—including the one I had played on the evening of June 16.
I subsequently read a thread on Reddit where hundreds of people reported the same issue; some users were missing hundreds of games from their profiles.
Over the last three weeks or so, more and more people have chimed in, speculating about a possible connection and trying to determine if there is a pattern regarding the missing games.
Following the very disappointing news on July 1st that physical disc games would be discontinued starting in 2028, a new theory has emerged—one that I can unfortunately confirm.
All the games missing from my profile are ones I own on disc and for which I own no DLC (or for which no DLC exists).
Games I "purchased" from the PS Store, as well as disc games where I own some form of DLC—even if it’s just a pre-order bonus or free DLC—are still there.
Consequently, I personally suspect that this has nothing to do with the "security issue" from June 16. ...has to do with what was originally assumed, but rather that the cause is actually a side effect of the announcement that discs are being discontinued.
I’m writing this because many other users and I are very upset that hundreds of games—representing thousands of hours of playtime—are now missing from our profiles, and unfortunately, there is nothing about this in the media.
It’s not exactly the end of the world, but after all the bad news of the past few days, it does leave a bitter taste.
Here are some sources featuring users reporting the issue:
