This is just the modern equivalent of adjusting the rendering window size [and therefore resolution] to achieve higher framerates in Doom back in 1993.
This just reminded me of bypassing the autoexec.bat file to get Doom running on low RAM 486 PCs back in the day.
Starwing on SNES was one of my favourite games as a kid/teen and I played it to death.
I also owned Starfox 64 but for some reason always preferred the SNES version, probably because of how mind blowing it was at the time and it being my first experience of this type of 3D game.
Wasn't it like £60 or £70 back in 1993, which was incredibly expensive at the time.
I remember Rise Of The Robots being equally as expensive initially in my local Beatties store (remember those stores, they used to sell loads of Star Trek figures and toys as well as video games and many other things) but quickly ending up in the bargain bin, although that was all about the pre-rendered visuals and had zero gameplay value so that wasn't surprising.

It'll be interesting to see how well my RX6750XT handles it.
