Re: Review: Starfield on PS5/PS5 Pro: The Game's Still Good - But Technical Problems Need Addressing

Look I have to disagree with Oliver here, about “the player that is uneducated can select modes that make no sense” not because they can’t, but actually because there is advisory notes on the right side of the screen, made by the devs, informing what is each mode suggested target FPS and to not go above that. You can see it even in the video itself. So if the “uneducated” player wants to just disregard the advice from the devs… well their loss.

ALSO, this is just my opinion of course and not what mostly players would like, but I’m running the game on PS5 pro Enhanced mode with uncapped FPS and Vsync off on my LG C9 (120hz and VRR capable for anyone not familiar with it understanding) And even if FPS is wildly different in towns from other areas you get way above 60 on smaller bases an more barren areas where all the shooting happens generally, and around 40 to 50 in big cities depending on the area. I think it’s a very cool thing to have this flexibility.

About the V-sync toggle, I did notice some difference when running with it on (more judder in high FPS small places) and off (smoother variable fps when it dips) on the mode and settings I mentioned above.

Regardless, thank you for the great video! Cheers!
PS. I wonder what is Richard’s take on this. What mode the big boss plays on (assuming he plays it on Console)
