I gave this a quick try over the weekend, worked great and do recommend giving it a go. I haven't however tried the headphone jack, i prefer my speaker setup for gaming.
EDIT: there is now two firmware revisions, one for the standard DS and the other for the Edge. Comments on the github indicate that if you pair the edge with the standards firmware it will allow the edge to function in earlier titles that do not have edge support.
