This website is perfect timing for me and a nice surprise. I've been a viewer for years, but I joined the Patreon a couple of days ago and was disappointed to find that "digital foundry.net" just forwarded to the Patron page. Now a fully featured website has appeared, complete with a classic forum, which I didn't realise how much I missed from the forum heyday.
Awesome to see a new forum to discuss gaming, especially under the DF banner. Long time spectator here, I joined the Patreon and hope to be able to support DF further soon.
Anxiously Chrono Triggered here. A father of two, a husband, a gamer (my first console was Pegasus a Polish famiclone) and a huge fan of DF for so long I can’t really remember.
I’m so glad we’ve got this webpage and fora. While I mostly enjoy the DF Discord because of so many genuinely good people being there, I still find it too chaotic for my early millennial , ADHD-boosted brain. And I used to hang out on various fora back in the day where AI word was only used in sci-fi books or to describe the grunts behaviour in HALO:CE. Having an ad-free gaming oriented webpage where creators don’t care about search engines is freaking amazing.
I really hope this place will only get better!
Currently Playing: CyberPunk 2077, Tomb Raider Remastered, Super Mario Bros 2, SSX3, Zelda TOTK, Donkey Kong Bananza, Coral Island, Mario Kart World
I stumbled on DF back when they did the Crysis console/PC comparisons. I've been watching their videos since. I've been around forums since their inception. I'm glad DF is bringing their own.
While I still play the new stuff, I'm mostly Into retro gaming and PCs. N64 is my favorite console and I think Conkers Bad Fur Day is one of the greatest satire video games of all time. The first "online" game I ever played was Decsent on PC through dial up. For my 16th birthday I had LAN party playing Duke Nukem 3D.
Looking forward to having more discussion with all you gents.
Hi guys how’s it going 😄.
Been a DF enjoyer for as long as I can remember, when all we had was side by side picture comparisons.
It’s probably my favorite go to channel on YouTube. If I see a DF video, I click, simple as that. Cheers from Spain!
Well, Maarten Peters here. Big fan of games, but play them too little, because the tech and history interests me too much Been an avid watcher of DF for many years now. Watch almost every tech analysis. I learned all tech-abilities myself as I was foolish enough not to put my energy into a tech-oriented education. But after my university bachelor, I was luckily given the chance by people that my interest and knowledge of computers would make me perfect for a job within ICT-support.
You could know me from the Command & Conquer community, where I'm quite active and help out with projects quite much, especially regarding Generals/Zero Hour. Even build up a whole known issues list for/with the developer who got contracted by EA for the 2024 re-release of these C&C games. Mainly involved with GameReplays and GeneralsOnline nowadays.
Furthermore, I'm especially interested in classic games and delisted games. My GOG-library and Steam library are just too big xD My heart goes out especially to the Doom (idTech!!!), Just Cause, Dungeon Keeper, Hitman, RollerCoaster Tycoon (including OpenRCT2 and Classic) and the Command & Conquer franchises. Due to Alex, I also have huge interest in CryEngine, even though I rarely play the Crysis games haha.
I've setup RTSS and MSI Afterburner is such a way that I can detect stutters, frame drops, unstable frame times etc. with complete ease. Recognizing the quality of reflections, GI, shadows or RT effects is easy for me. I've literally bought games in the past just because they are technically amazing, not because I actually wanted to play them for fun. The fun for me is really in the tech and history especially.
My work mainly includes:
Writing some historic and tech-related articles about Command & Conquer for GameReplays.
Being in contact with the developers of and doing testing and reporting for projects like Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection, CorsixTH, GeneralsOnline, War for the Overworld, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic and probably more. Lately also providing feedback to GOG (Good Old Games) towards some classic games in their library.
Bringing users support by helping them diagnose and solve their issues for over a decade, mostly regarding the whole Command & Conquer franchise. Do this as my day-to-day job too, but then helping people with their hardware, Android and Windows issues haha.
Honestly, would have loved to join DF one day, but my video-editing experience is almost non-existent (I know, I could learn it). So, never had the actual guts to actually express my interest... oops.
Nice, not in the discord, in too many already but I do watch most of the videos so I'll sign up here. I'm your typical Irish 90's gamer who grew up reading magazines and teletext, and who is now old or getting there.
I believe Sega and arcade gaming both as separate topics and combined, got written out of gaming history, and that platform exclusives are A Good Thing Actually ™ oh and that 30fps is unplayable on Oled.
