Earlier this week I reviewed the Razer Naga V3 Pro, a gaming mouse that packs in 23 programmable buttons and excellent macro recording software. Now, Big Keyboard has fired back with the Keychron C100, a 100-key macro pad arranged in a massive 10x10 grid.
Each blank keycap on the C100 sits atop a mechanical Keychron Apex switch, while the entire board supports polling rates up to 8KHz and is programmable via the open QMK standard (and Keychron's Launcher web app). And at $65, it's also cheaper than most similar-size keyboards.
The attention to detail here is impressive for a macro pad. The switches are pre-lubed and offer a tactile bump for extra feedback, the ASA profile keycaps use a PBT/PC blend, and layers of foam are included to give the macro pad a more satisfying sound.
| Width | 196.65 mm | Body Material | Plastic |
| Length | 196.65 mm | MCU | AT32F405 RCT7-7 |
| Front Height | 17.8 mm (without keycaps) | Polling Rate | 8000 Hz |
| Back Height | 17.8 mm (without keycaps) | Backlight | North-facing RGB LED |
| Angle | 0° / 2° / 5° | Switch Support | Yes |
| Feet Height | 2 mm | Connectivity | Type-C wired |
| Keycaps | Transparent ASA keycaps | Compatible System |
macOS / Windows / Linux |
The whole board is fully hot-swappable too - so any three-pin or five-pin mechanical switch can be installed if you prefer. There's also per-key RGB lighting, which would be a smart way to group related functions and make it easier to find your key of choice.
I'm a big fan of Keychron's keyboards - and I appreciate their efforts to open-source their designs - so I'm interested in giving this one a spin. I think I'd struggle to find 96 unique macros to make full use of it - taking into account the four corner keys used for lighting controls - but I'd love to give it a try for Photoshop actions, text macros and buy commands in Counter-Strike 2, for example.
What do you make of it? Let me know in the comments below.
