Just a business decision for Intel, produced as B770 with 16gb vram, it can only sell at price like $349~$499 , but as a pro-tier card, it can sell at ~$1000 and has its advantage over competitors.
I think Intel will still put R&D on Xe4(5 or what they call), but these come first with i-gpu, pro-tier gpu or server gpu, as the d-gpu is not a promissing business for Intel, I doubt intel will return to d-gpu in near future, considering the 80% shipments of the whole consumer PC market is now laptops, it's better to make next intel i-gpu even more better than the b380/b390, and the intel chip become the standard of AI PCs, these i-gpu SoC are now favoured by oem&consumers and have higher profit margin for intel.
