There seems to be weird scaling bug, when scrolling on ipad site seems to change size on its own and suddenly jumping, happens when i was logged out of patreon. Happened on ipad on both safari and chrome. You can see video here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/7885JRmfVRan2Lu39
Im only scrolling up and down using single finger on video, but it jumps like crazy.
@Bigmanupstairs if you've got 'Display Adverts' to 'No' in your profile/settings then it shouldn't show them anywhere... it's a universal setting. If you're still seeing them, can you contact [email protected] and help us investigate further.
@Bigmanupstairs I've had a quick look in your account and when I'm logged in with it can't see any ads, so could be a cache issue. Try logging out and back in again, and if it persists let me know if it's on every page or certain pages, thanks — weird one!
This isn't necessarily a bug, but it appears that setting the location is mandatory and this information is displayed publicly, e.g. on my account page: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/users/a-follower
The location is automatically pulled from Patreon when creating a digitalfoundry.net account, which can be a privacy issue, but at least the country can be changed at will.
@a-follower thanks for flagging this. It's somewhat of a historic feature where we used to show flags next to names so you could quickly identify where people are from (and therefore understand perhaps they are coming from a different perspective). It totally makes sense to have this optional, though, so we will update accordingly.
1) Some of the digitalfoundry.net pages redirect to other Hookshot Media sites. I frequently search for DF articles in a search engine (site:digitalfoundry.net search-terms) and at the time for instance these results are returned (with their own page title):
This behavior likely damages the domain's search engine ranking — must not be intentional.
2) The images in the DF articles have no alt text property, they display as 'untitled'. This has accessibility implications (users relying on screen reader software) and can lower your rank in search engines.
3) Some Digital Foundry-branded content is still actively published on Eurogamer whereas the DF-Eurogamer partnership ended when Rich bought back the company, to my knowledge.
