Valve took to social media today to confirm that more Steam Controller shipments were on the way, stating that the demand for the new PC-first controller took them by surprise.
"Steam Controller ran out faster than we anticipated, and we hate that not everyone who wanted one was able to get it. We’re working on getting more in stock and will have an update on expected timeline soon."
We called the Steam Controller "a genuine first-party pro controller for PC" in our review, pointing towards its excellent mouse emulation and customisability when recommending it for PC players already invested in the Steam ecosystem. Despite some quibbles over the $100/£85 price point, that warmly positive sentiment has been shared by most outlets.
I personally bought a Steam Controller exactly one hour after pre-orders first went live at 6PM BST, although it did take a good dozen attempts to place an order with a saved debit card and the estimated shipping time was 6-10 days rather than the 3-5 days afforded to those that pre-ordered immediately.
If you're considering a Steam Controller for yourself, then it's best to wait until the next restock from Valve rather than purchasing from a scalper budding entrepreneur on sites like Ebay. And be extra careful that you're buying the new 2026 model rather than the 2016 model that precedes it and shares precisely the same name - that would be one heck of a snafu, but someone paid £236 for exactly that on StockX today.
Did you manage to place an order for the Steam Controller? Let us know in the poll and/or comments. And if you're interested in learning more about how the Steam Controller was designed, why not read our big tech interview with Valve?

I am not even sure it went in stock in the UK, it went from not live to sold out instantly at the time it was supposed to go live.
@MattGPT I bought one in the UK, final email was timestamped at 7PM, i so I think it was definitely live at some stage!

@wsjudd Good to know they had at least one then. I do not need one at the moment, but am interested in seeing how well it works and there are some games I want to play on PC that are better with a controller so I will keep an eye for more stock. When you have had it for a month or two it would be really good to have an extended review. I have always preferred the PS controllers to Xbox so it will be interesting to have an alternative on PC as I have never really got DualSense perfect with PC (I may try thr Pi trick from the article at some point).
