I'm interested in an upgrade when one comes out (reasonable price-dependent) not least because I'd love to get an oled and pass my launch day S2 to my son. He's wanted one since launch and they're so pricey we haven't been able to justify a second one yet. I'll be interested to see how Nintendo solves for VRR flicker on an oled Panel. As I recall, there was online chatter at one point discussing VRR flicker as an obstacle to a Switch 2 oled model.
Not offering a single upgrade path on any of their games is open slimy greed. Sonic isn't remotely my franchise (just read the article like many others out of broader gaming interest) and for that I'm glad because this is the kind of thing I'd want to boycott.
Sorry to hear you were disappointed Digital Foundrymen. I always go into these Directs hoping to see one or two things that will appeal to me, and not expecting to see any. I got S2 upgrades for the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy plus a new game announced for next year, as well as an Ocarina of Time remake announced for this year. That's 5 games that directly appeal to me. I was not disappointed at all; this Direct was a solid win in my book. All the 3rd party announcements were very much a bonus (looking forward to trying FF14 when available). I understand these presentations are very subjective in people's enjoyment of them. For me as a Xenoblade, Zelda, and JRPG fan, I was very happy.
@Darren1967 Didn't Nintendo announce recently that their development has transitioned entirely to Switch 2? I recall seeing something to that effect. I interpret that to mean they aren't making any more first party games for Switch 1 aside from what might be residually in the pipeline, so to speak. I do agree this will be a long cross-gen period though, at least for 3rd party devs.

Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition on Switch 2 is a comprehensive technical upgrade, but buying twice stings
