My 4070 Ti Super is still holding up very well, so no I wouldn't upgrade to a 50x0 Super. My trusty 8700k is getting close to retirement though, so my next upgrade will be a new CPU/mobo/RAM. Probably the 9800X3D, which will hopefully last 9+ years too
I didn't know I had an edge until I read about id software being gutted. That's absolutely unforgivable. I'm done with Xbox, I'm done with Microsoft. I'm gonna let my Games Pass subscription lapse (still got another year), and I'm not buying Helix. In fact, the way things are looking on the Sony side too, I'm doubling down on PC only.
I voted for option 3, only because Nvidia GPUs aren't properly supported by SteamOS yet. Once Nvidia GPUs run in SteamOS, with their increased performance (especially per watt) and superior DLSS compatibility, then it's option 4 all the way baby.
I'm really impressed that FH6 runs great on my handheld Legion Go sporting a Z1E! I was using the High preset with good results, and upgraded them to the above mainstream optimised settings with effectively no performance hit. 1920x1200 with FSR Quality btw. Sure it's not a locked 60fps, and it's good enough for a portable experience when I'm away from my desktop. Thanks to Rayan and Rich for testing out all the settings and inspiring me to push my (not so little) handheld further
Seeing as I've bought pretty much every single-player Sony game on PC, yes I would love them to continue to release them here, as I love their typically excellent narrative single-player games as part of my balanced gaming diet, and I prefer mouse & keyboard for games that require aiming (Uncharted 4, Returnal, Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank).
I don't have a PS5, and wasn't planning on buying one. Now I'm having to consider a Professional later down the line, or at least a PS6 to catch up on Intergalactic, Wolverine, God of War Next, and hopefully other upcoming new IPs. And Astrobot!
@Langers I don't know what kind of hardware you're rocking, Techspot's optimisation guide shows that running Extreme+RT with Raytraced GI Quality set to Medium gives you a ~30% uplift in performance for minor visual loss
Interesting findings! I have no doubt that game performance is unlikely to differ. What about loading/stuttering on more modern streaming heavy games like say Forza Horizon 6 or Ratchet & Clank? I would love to see more load time comparisons between the internal SSD and a Micro SD. My own experience with Micro SD vs SSD on my Steam Deck and Legion Go are that loading times are slower from Micro SD... but I haven't taken out a stopwatch to measure properly

Just writing to say I'm loving the * addendums at the end of a lot of your articles, Will

Yep the power of exclusives exists still.
Re: Review: Forza Horizon 6: PC Ray Tracing Looks Great - A Hint Of The Project Helix Port To Come?
@Langers Awesome, your setup is better than mine so you'll be able to run it at near top settings no problem. Enjoy!
Re: Is Switch 2 Powerful Enough To Last Into the 2030s With PS6 and Project Helix Coming Soon?
I'll be playing Switch 2 in 2032 if there's a Nintendo exclusive worth playing. Multi-plats will be better played elsewhere.
