Nah, sorry, I think ultrawides suck for that. Old school 4:3 aspect ratio 2D pixelart games just look wrong with a curve.
The multi Monitor argument is valid but thats just a handful of games in MAME.
4K 32in 16:9 OLEDS are as good as it gets for emulation(in terms of visuals if not response times, where Pulsar equipped monitors come into the equation) especially as many of the very best CRT shaders have been designed with 4K resolution in mind.
They should just keep it as a limited availability product they break even on for the next 2-3yrs and hope the market returns to some kind of sanity and allows them to maybe come up with a more powerful sequel in the 2030 time frame at the sort of prices they wanted originally for the thing.
Never really been a big fan of the franchise, TBH. but its nice to see that in the right hands UE5 doesn't automatically have to mean badly compromised performance.
Why does the 5080 have to be such a 'meh' level card.
I'm building a new pc in the next couple months and my options for a GPU are so rubbish.
Have the money for a 5090 but i flat out refuse to pay such an absurd amount for a GPU which leaves me with a 5080 or 5070Ti both of which leave me utterly unimpressed. I just know that either card would be purchased with zero enthusiasm.
Im almost tempted to just get the cheapest 9070XT as a 'tide me over' card until the RDNA 5 & RTX 60XX cards arrive.
AI has just about killed the PC handheld market, anything half decent coming down the pipe will have crazy starting prices, like £1300 ($1500) or more.
Well, unless sales collapse for some inexplicable reason, which will panic Nintendos shareholders into forcing Nintendo into releasing a newer, more powerful product, it will last just fine.
...but I still won't buy one until there's an OLED version.
Patiently waiting for display ports to arrive that will support the necessary bandwidth for 6K 240Hz OLEDs, which should be in late 2027 or early 2028.
Until then I'll have to slum it with 4K 240Hz... 😁
Sony sure as hell wouldn't want people to see their games running at higher resolutions and framerates on Microsofts console hybrid,Helix. If as people are saying, it will be a fair chunk more powerful than what Sony have lined up for the PS6.
Those new Asus Zephyrus G series laptops with these new Panther Lake chips look quite tasty albeit probably costing close to $5K for the fully loaded G16, RTX 5090 variant.

Emulation?

Re: Valve Would "Love to Make the Steam Machine More Affordable" - Just Don't Expect It "Any Time Soon"
@themightyant
I spent £900 on 3x4TB WD 7100 Gen 4 SSDs in February for a rig I'm not building until September.
Same drives today, if you can find them, and when on 'offer', would cost nearly £1500, or nearly £1800, at their full crazy retail price.
Madness.

Re: Review: GameSir G7 Pro 8K: An Impressive PC Pro Controller Worth Considering at $90/£100
Can we just stop to talk about the atrocious colour scheme of it and how I wouldn't be caught dead having that on my desktop...

Re: Next-Gen GPU Rumour Round-Up: AMD RDNA 5 and Nvidia 60-Series Delayed Until Mid-2027 or 2028, but RTX 50 Super Coming Sooner
@LTT
I dont like buying 2nd hand unless I know the provenance of the item.
What I'm hoping for is the 6080, or AMD equivalent, to offer 5090 ballpark levels of performance for no more than £1200/$1500.

Re: LG and Samsung Announce Two Very Different OLED Innovations on the Same Day
@Someguyperson
I was referring to the standard 4K Monitor panel sizes of 27in and 32in, not a 42in television, never designed to be used as a PC Monitor.
Re: LG and Samsung Announce Two Very Different OLED Innovations on the Same Day
@Someguyperson
It's only really an issue on 1440p screens anyway. Once you step upto 4K the pixel density makes it a non issue, IMO

Re: Windows K2: The 6 Best Features From Microsoft's Upcoming "Please Don't Leave" Update
Nothing in the long term but in the short term let me do offline installs of Windows without having to jump through ever increasingly absurd hoops.
At this point Microsoft is to financially invested in all this AI integration nonsense to make anything but the most superficial of changes.
Im just waiting for Nvidias Linux drivers to improve enough to make the switch from Windows permanent.
Re: Review: Corsair Vanguard Air 99 Wireless: Great Ideas, Superb Execution, Terrible Price
Even taking into account VAT that is some serious price gouging of the UK consumer at that price.
With a $260 US price tag, no way in hell should it be as high as £240.
Re: Review: Asus ROG Raikiri 2 Xbox Wireless Controller - A Better Elite Alternative

No way is worth a hundred notes more than G7 Pro and it doesn't even have Gyro controls which is a must for all things Nintendo emulation
Just the usual ASUS tax for the gullible E-Peen brand whores.
Re: "This Could Be Interesting" - Intel To Unveil Panther Lake Handhelds With Arc G3 Graphics At Computex In June
Let's hope they dont follow Lenovo on pricing....what is it now, $1500 for even the most basic Legion Go.
And if, as i assume, MSi will get first dibs on these, dont expect to see them at retail until Q1 2027.
Re: How Much Would You Pay For PlayStation 6?
DOA, relative to previous PlayStation launch numbers, if it costs more than £649 in the UK.
